Phase 4: Monitoring and development
Important to the success of the management plan are its monitoring and development. They are used to evaluate whether or not the plan is working as intended.
The aim of the management plan is to conserve Suomenlinna for future generations.
The first step was to study Suomenlinna’s past and current situation in order to form a basis for the future. The guidelines for Suomenlinna’s future were then agreed with stakeholders. An action plan was drawn up around the year 2019 and has been updated yearly.
Equally important to the success of the management plan are its monitoring and development. They are used to evaluate whether or not the plan is working as intended. The purpose of monitoring is to influence and react to environmental and social changes to help the big guidelines remain clear. Through evaluation, the discussion on the current situation, guidelines and actions can again move forward.
