Midsummer on Suomenlinna

The Midsummer celebration is right around the corner. Much of Helsinki is quiet during Midsummer, but the majority of the services on Suomenlinna will continue to serve visitors throughout the Midsummer holidays. We invite you to come to Suomenlinna to visit a museum, enjoy a good meal or perhaps take a guided tour to learn more about Suomenlinna’s colourful past.

During Midsummer, 24–26 June, the Suomenlinna ferry will operate according to the weekend schedule. The JT-Line waterbus will operate on Midsummer’s Eve, 24 June, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The last waterbus from Suomenlinna to the Kauppatori Market Square will depart at 10:25 p.m.

Of the six museums on Suomenlinna, five will remain open throughout the Midsummer holidays. A combined ticket for the museums is available for the price of €18. The combined ticket is valid throughout the summer, until 30 September. The museums also accept the Finnish Museums Association’s “Museokortti” card.

Guided tours are available daily in four languages: Finnish, Swedish, English and Russian. Tickets for guided tours also include admission to the Ehrensvärd Museum located in the former Commandant’s House.

Many of the restaurants and cafés on Suomenlinna will remain open to serve hungry and thirsty visitors throughout the Midsummer holidays. The restaurants Pizzeria Nikolai, Viaporin Deli & Café, and Café Bar Valimo will be open daily during Midsummer. The cafés Jääkellari and Piper, as well as Café Samovarbar at the Toy Museum, will also be open throughout the Midsummer holidays.

Suomenlinna Visitor Centre and Suomenlinna Centre are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Please refer to the calendar for detailed information on the opening hours of Suomenlinna’s services.
